Pequodia

Our Mascot

Moby

Moby appears from time to time in various places.
How to say Pequod
Pequod rhymes with "Pea Quad." Emphasize the first syllable.

The Word Pequod
The Pequod is a whaling ship in Herman Melville's book Moby Dick
Melville named the ship after the Pequot Native American tribe.

Whaling Ships

whaling ship

This is a whaling ship. Notice the longboats attached to the side, which enabled whale hunters to row out to the whale. More about the whaling industry at the time Herman Melville knew about it is in the Nicholson Whaling Collection at the Providence Public Library.

Whales

whale

We would rather see our community save the whales than hunt them. While many nations no longer hunt whales commercially, there are some that still do.

The Ship's Cats

The Pequod Systems crew includes two cats. Honeycat and Mustard (aka "Turtles") keep a proper perspective on all priorities.
